Happy Diwali! Maybe you’ve seen this photo claiming to be a NASA photo of India during Diwali.
Business Insider dug up some background on the image, and this is what they found!

The photo is an overlay of shots highlighting India’s burgeoning population over several years. The white lights were the only illumination visible before 1992. The blue lights appeared in 1992. The green lights in 1998. And the red lights appeared in 2003.
Current speculation suggests the lights are a result of the Hindu celebration Diwali, or the celebration of lights, held from mid-October to mid-November, but NASA was unable to confirm what time of year the shots were taken.

p.s. Are you South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, etc)? You should swab for Amit!

Are you in Delhi, India? Come meet us!!

Are you in Delhi, India? Come to our photo meet-up tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th!

We’re meeting at the entrance gate to the Red Fort (@ Chandni Chowk) at 11:30 AM (We’ll be there between 11:30 am and 12 pm and go exploring from there!).

Team Photojojo is on workcation… in India!
We spent over 24 hours traveling, and of course the first thing we did was pull out all our cameras, film, and photo gear to get excited about all the pics we’re going to take while we’re here!

I’m REALLY excited about this!
For much of our work, where we do it isn’t really all that important. So for a while now I’ve wanted to try working in different places. Of course, it’s more fun with friends.
So for the next few weeks, Photojojo’s relocating to India!
Five of us fly out from San Francisco today, and 3-4 more join us shortly from the east coast.
The holidays are an intensely busy time for us, so what better way to wind down than a workcation! We’ll be shacking up in a 100-year-old restored Portuguese home in Siolim village in Goa for a couple weeks, then spending a week in Delhi.
Our goal: continue business as usual (ie. finding the most awesome photo stuff in the universe!!) We’ll also be going over the last year, brainstorming and planning out 2011, and enjoying some of the local scenery and food. If it goes well, we hope to make a trip somewhere in the world an annual tradition.
See you soon!
p.s. Hat tip to our pals at The Hype Machine for the inspiration, thanks to Katherine and Tony (and other members of the Google Chrome team) who’ll be making use of our office while we’re away!
